So it begins. Welcome to Happy To Be Here. I have been waiting so long to share this and this poster felt like the best way to start. The grid behind the smile graphic is made up of screen grabs from a whole bunch of old footage from over the years. I have so much footage from super early shows that I somehow wanted to tie into the book but wasn’t sure how to do it. Being inspired by contact sheets of film photos, I figured if we created a grid made up of these freeze frames it would give a great context for the colors and energy that this book encapsulates. The smile was something that came to me when I was looking at a we are hiring post from a production company. They had added it to the end of their note about what kind of person they were looking to hire and I thought it added a great touch of positivity to something that was very serious as well. A big goal behind the whole Happy To Be Here rollout and book is to encourage positivity and love for what we as creatives do. After finding that reference I took a day or so and scribbled a bunch of faces on a document and picked the one that stood out the most. All in all I felt this was a great place to start the roll out without giving too much information but also giving some sort of context about what the book will be about and what it will feel like.
