Trailer
10/20/24
The trailer is finally out. I can’t lie it feels insane and the feedback has been incredible as well. The entire process, from finding the location, locking in shoot dates, to actually executing the production, was a dream come true. A lot of the pieces of the rollout are inspired by roll outs from artists and musicians nowadays. After being able to witness some really thought out roll outs, I was then inspired to give the same attention and focus to my personal projects as well. One of my favorite parts of a lot of roll outs in the music space is the album trailer. I think so many artists do such an incredible job giving a visual reference to the world they have been inspired by while creating their albums. I wanted to give my best shot at doing the same for my book.
The idea for the trailer is what it would have felt like to receive a book like this when I was a teenager just starting out as a photographer. When I started photography in 2012, there was nothing on my mind but who was performing in Philly that week and how I could get my camera into the show. All I wanted to do was consume consume and consume so that I could learn how to be as great as the photographers I looked up to.
These days, a lot of what we consume is not genuine to the actual journey people go through in order to reach success. We constantly see highlight reels when the real journey is a lot less glamorous. My goal for this book was to provide an honest insight into what my journey looked like. From waiting outside venues for hours to never make it inside or from sleeping in cold sprinter vans in the winter while artists stayed in five star hotels, the fight was real. In order to motivate the younger generation you have to be honest about what your journey looked like so that when they hit those same roadblocks, they know they also have to push forward.
This trailer has a lot of similarities to what my start looked like. Plotting with friends on how to make it in the venue, parents having no idea what or why I was doing what I was doing but the support was there. I created this book to hopefully be a tool or a reference point for others on their journey. Nothing will get you further in your passion than a few years of true, hard work.
